The road can be a threatening place–but with all-speed traction control, Hill Start Assist, and available Hill Descent Control, the 2008 Jeep® Liberty has the agility to help you navigate the trickiest of obstacles.

Traction Control

• All-speed traction control senses drive-wheel slip and applies individual brakes to a slipping wheel(s) until traction is regained.

Hill Descent Control

• New for the 2008 Jeep® Liberty, and included on all 4x4 models with automatic transmission, is available Hill Descent Control (HDC). HDC allows a smooth and controlled hill descent on rough or slippery terrain without the driver needing to touch the brake pedal. (Note: 4WD and HDC are available features)

Hill Start Assist

• Another new feature for Jeep Liberty is Hill Start Assist (HSA). Standard on all Liberty models, this feature assists drivers when starting a vehicle from a stop on a hill by maintaining the level of brake pressure applied for a short period after the driver's foot is removed from the brake pedal. If throttle is not applied within a short period after the driver’s foot is removed from the brake pedal, brake pressure will be released.

Should you suddenly get splashed from an 18-wheeler or bull rhino, Limited's available rain-sensitive wiper system^[1] automatically adjusts to the high mode so you can instantly see free and clear again. The rain sensing wipers are packaged in Liberty Limited's Premium Group II.

The Trailer Sway Control system reduces trailer sway and improves handling in adverse towing conditions caused by crosswinds and traffic. Software monitors the vehicle's movement relative to the driver's intended path, then applies brake pressure to slow the vehicle and then increases the pressure on one front wheel to counteract sway induced by the trailer.
