- Green Story

Introducing the 2.0L and 2.4L PZEV engines — two below-the-radar green machines. Greenercars.org rated the 2.4L I-4 manual transmission one of the best by class for 2008.
The PZEV World engines — even in park they perform. An important part of the PZEV's advantage is its elimination of evaporative emissions, the gasoline fumes that escape during refueling or, especially on hot days, from the fuel tank and supply lines. Even a car that is not running can emit a significant amount of evaporative pollution — perhaps 25% of the vehicle's total emissions, the air resources board says — so the special fuel system makes a real difference in air quality.
PZEV tailpipes are about 70% cleaner than cars that are already "clean". Automobiles receiving a Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (PZEV) credit have met the Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) tailpipe standard, which is 90% cleaner than the average 2003 automobile. In addition, they have near-zero evaporative emissions and their emission control equipment has a 15-year / 150,000 mile warranty.en_epa_mpt
- Partial Zero Emission Vehicle

The Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (PZEV) engine uses environmentally friendly exhaust manifolds. By heating the catalytic converter quickly, exhaust gases mix faster in the manifold's single-wall design. There is also a secondary air system that injects ambient air back into the cylinder head during cold start conditions. The ability to mix the exhaust gases at a higher rate and the use of the air injection system reduces emissions when a driver starts his or her vehicle.
- Aerodynamics / Wind Tunnel

The Patriot was extensively tested in Chrysler's state-of-the-art Aero-Acoustic Wind Tunnel for maximum slipperiness. The steeply raked front windshield, roof racks, side mirrors and other key elements were sculpted to reduce drag and wind noise.
