During extreme steering maneuvers, the Electronic Stability Controlen_always_drive_carefully (ESC) system helps maintain control by sensing when the vehicle is starting to over- or understeer. The system automatically applies individual brakes or controls the throttle to help you stay safely on course.
Electronic Roll Mitigationen_always_drive_carefully (ERM) uses innovative motion sensors that determine when a rollover may occur and applies braking force to the correct wheel or wheels to reduce the likelihood of such an accident.
Other accident avoidance features include:
- All-Speed Traction Control with special calibrations for driving in 4WD 4LO. Applies the brakes more aggressively and for longer duration than traction control.
- Antilock Brake System (ABS) with a unique rough road detection system
- Brake assist system, which applies maximum braking power during panic braking
- Multiple available four-wheel drive systems

- ESC OFF

When you don’t want the extra hand, Electronic Stability Controlen_always_drive_carefully (ESC) is specially tuned for performance handling so you can switch it off. In addition, All-Speed Traction Control works in tandem with ESC. It has a special set of calibrations specifically for driving in 4WD 4LO. To help crawl over obstacles and during heavy articulation activity, it applies the brakes more aggressively and for longer duration than traction control.
- Hill Start Assist

Standard standard Hill Start Assist (HSA) helps drivers when starting a vehicle from a stop on a hill by maintaining the level of brake pressure applied for a short period after the driver’s foot is removed from the brake pedal. If throttle is not applied within a short period after the driver’s foot is removed from the brake pedal, brake pressure will be released.
- On-Road / Off-Road Four-Wheel Disc Antilock Brakes

Wrangler’s four-wheel disc Antilock Brake System (ABS), brake assist and traction control helps prevent wheel lockup for improved steering under extreme braking and slippery conditions, and aids in trail driving when in four-wheel-drive 4LO mode. ABS modulates the brakes to reduce stopping distances and improve steering control under braking.
- Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Wrangler’s standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System regularly checks inflation levels for optimal safety, security, performance, and fuel economy. If the levels are off, a warning light will illuminate on the instrument panel. It can save fuel too. According to fueleconomy.gov, you can improve your gas mileage by around 3.3 percent by keeping your tires inflated to the proper pressure (that’s up to 11 cents / gallon savings!). Proper inflation also benefits the life of your tires.
