Towing

The 2012 Jeep® Grand Cherokee allows you to conquer any terrain. When properly equipped, it can tow an unsurpassed 7,400 pounds+.

To increase capability for high-load applications including trailer towing, Pentastar® V6 test engines were subjected to a substantial 50-percent increase in severity testing versus previous V6 engines.

All Grand Cherokee models, properly equipped with the available 5.7L V8 engine and Trailer Tow Group, come with a variable-speed 850-watt brushless electric cooling fan. Rounding out the capability of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8® is a trailer tow rating of 5,000 pounds+.

Trailer Sway Control + senses trailer sway and takes action by automatically applying the right amount of braking to maintain control. Just knowing it's there offers a level of security and confidence for the driver.

    The Trailer Tow Group includes a Class II receiver hitch, trailer tow wiring harness and Trailer Sway Control+ (TSC). The Jeep Grand Cherokee offers trailer tow capability of up to 5,000 pounds on models equipped with the Pentastar V6 engine or the 6.4L HEMI® V8 engine+. Equip your Grand Cherokee with the legendary 5.7L V8 engine and you're ready for loads of up to 7,400 pounds+.

    Tow / Haul Switch

    Push the TOW / HAUL button for improved vehicle performance and fuel economy, while minimizing engine noise during trailer towing, heavy-load hauling or driving in mountainous areas. The TOW / HAUL mode inhibits fourth gear and allows upshifts to third during higher speed / lighter loads.
