To help keep your family safe and secure while out and about, we've bundled a number of key accident avoidance features into a new Advanced Warning / Adaptive Cruise Control Group. The group's high-tech features include: Forward Collision Warning +, Adaptive Cruise Control +, Blind Spot Monitoring +, and Rear Cross Path Detection +.
Adaptive Cruise Control automatically adjusts cruising speed to maintain a preset distance (short, medium or long) between your vehicle and the one ahead. The system uses radar to detect moving vehicles immediately ahead and modify cruising speed if necessary.
Grand Cherokee's four-wheel disc Antilock Brake System with rough road detection, brake assist and all-speed traction control, helps prevent wheel lockup for improved steering under extreme braking and slippery conditions.
Anticipating the need for additional traction, all of Grand Cherokee's available four-wheel drive systems automatically respond to wheel slippage and improve vehicle stability.

- Blind Spot Monitoring
Blind Spot Monitoring+ is part of the Advanced Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control Group. It uses dual radar sensors to monitor driver blind spots. Drivers will hear a chime and see an illuminated icon on the instrument panel when the Blind Spot Monitoring system detects a vehicle that is too close.
- Rear Cross Path Detection
When in reverse, Rear Cross Path Detection+ warns driver with an audible chime when an object is detected. Rear Cross Path Detection+ is packaged in the Advanced Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control Group.
- Rain-Sensitive Wipers and Rain Brake Support
Front wipers activate when raindrops are detected. A new smart brake system helps dry the brake rotors on wet roads for added safety.
- Forward Collision Warning
Forward Collision Warning+ radar sensors detect when a vehicle may be approaching another too rapidly, alerting the driver with an audible chime. This feature, part of the Advanced Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control Group, is especially helpful in warning a driver who is distracted or drowsy.
Research conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that almost 30 percent of the total crashes reported to police each year in the U.S. were from rear-end collisions (2.3 million times from 2002-2006). A Daimler-Benz study concluded that 1.5-seconds of additional warning could prevent up to 90% of rear-end collisions.
- Maintain Control
During extreme steering maneuvers the Electronic Stability Control+ (ESC) helps maintain control by sensing when the vehicle is starting to over- or understeer. ESC automatically applies individual brakes or controls the throttle to help you stay safely on course. When you don't want it, you can switch it off.
