When you own a Jeep® vehicle, you're bound to be far off the beaten path at one time or another, so gas mileage becomes all the more important. Not only have Jeep vehicles taken performance for 2012 to a new level, they have also improved fuel efficiency+. Gone are the days when you have to give up performance for better fuel economy.

The 3.6L Pentastar® V6 with the six-speed manual or with the five-speed automatic transmission is rated at 17 city / 21 hwy mpg+. This is a significant improvement over the vehicle’s previous fuel consumption, helping you enjoy the ride that much more.

The removable front air dam improves fuel economy:

  • Streamlines airflow around, rather than under, the vehicle
  • Provides a low-pressure area directly behind the cooling system components to aid in desired airflow

    Wrangler’s iconic design has been optimized for maximum aerodynamics and wind noise reduction. Several aerodynamic aids include:

    • Lower air dam and upper fascia that manage airflow and reduce the affects of aerodynamic drag at the front end
    • Leading edges of the hood surfaces were aerodynamically tuned
    • The interface between the windshield frame and removable top was positioned from in front, to above the header for improved airflow, reduced wind noise and better weather sealing

    Paints, adhesives and plastics often contain considerable quantities of solvents. Unhappy with emission levels, the engineers and paint specialists at the Wrangler assembly plant set about devising methods of eliminating solvents. The outcome is a dramatic reduction in solvent consumption and emissions, cutting the impact on the environment.

     

    The Wrangler manufacturing plant is super green thanks to the use of chrome-free phosphate, a lead-free E-coat process, a powder coating prime coat and a waterborne basecoat. The assembly plant continues the company's efforts to push powder coating and other technologies to higher levels of quality, performance and environmental friendliness.
