ICE2EV Eligibility & Terms

To qualify for the ICE2EV Scrappage Scheme, applicants must meet all of the following conditions:

  • The vehicle being scrapped must be a petrol or diesel passenger car first registered in 2013 or earlier.
  • The vehicle must have been registered in the applicant's name for at least 12 months.
  • The vehicle must be taxed and insured for road use.
  • The vehicle must have a valid NCT certificate, or an NCT that expired no more than six months before the application date.
  • The vehicle registration certificate must be provided.
  • The scrappage payment applies only when purchasing a new battery electric vehicle (BEV).
  • The new vehicle must qualify for the SEAI EV Grant.
  • The scheme is subject to available funding and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • An additional €5,000 scrappage grant is available towards a new battery electric vehicle.
  • This is in addition to the existing SEAI EV Grant of up to €3,500.
