JEEP® BRAND 4X4 SYSTEMS

ENGINEERING ADVENTURE

Jeep® Brand 4x4 vehicles are built to handle nearly anything the journey will throw at you, to travel where most will never dare.

DRIVE ON NEARLY ANY TERRAIN

Not all 4x4s are created equal. Jeep® Brand 4x4 vehicles are engineered for adventure and tested in some of the planet’s most demanding locations. So, whether driving in a storm or off-roading through challenging conditions, you can journey with confidence.

MASTER THE MUCK

Jeep® Brand 4x4 vehicles have sealed electrical systems, a high air intake and available skid plates for additional undercarriage protection against muddy conditions.

EVERYDAY TRACTION

Common commutes can be tricky when snow, black ice or heavy rain create challenging driving conditions. Thankfully, Jeep® Brand 4x4 systems and robust suspensions are engineered to help you handle these hazards with confidence.

UNPAVED IS OFF-ROAD

You can expect washboard roads and ruts that will test your vehicle’s suspension system when driving off-road. Gravel can act like ice in certain circumstances. That’s where Jeep® Brand 4x4 systems with electronic brake differentials, traction control, Electronic Stability Control and gas shocks can help you stay in control.

TAKE ON SLICK CONDITIONS

In snow, ice or sleet, you want a Jeep® Brand 4x4 vehicle to help navigate slick conditions. A Jeep Brand 4x4 system combined with a brake lock differential, antilock brakes and traction control will help see you through.

REIGN OVER THE ROCKS

The Jeep® Brand has built its reputation on the ability to endure some of the most challenging locations on earth. Thanks to true 4 Low modes, paired with super-tough suspensions, available tow hooks, available skid plates and much more, you can travel where others fear to tread.

CRUISE THE BEACH, TACKLE THE DUNES

Jeep® Brand 4x4 vehicles are engineered to handle challenging sandy environments. High ground clearances, outstanding traction, responsive handling and desert durability combine to help you navigate aggressive terrain.

STREAMLINED CONTROL

With Jeep® Brand 4x4 engineering, you can traverse bodies of water that other vehicles wouldn’t dare attempt. Electrical connections and body openings are sealed, and the air intake is positioned higher to help protect your vehicle when driving through overflowing creeks, streams and deep rainstorm puddles.

Outstanding 4x4 technology

The Jeep® Brand is one of the world leaders in 4x4 technology—it’s the backbone of the brand. Our sophisticated 4x4 systems let you find your own way up, down, through or around almost anything. You can trust the Jeep Brand with its 80-plus years of 4x4 excellence to help you tackle nearly anything Mother Nature sends your way.

OFF-ROAD DIFFERENTIALS

Transferring power to the wheels is one of the most important aspects of 4x4 driving. Jeep® Brand vehicles include either mechanical, electronic or brake-assisted differentials to help maximize power delivery to your vehicle's wheels for optimal traction.

FRONT SWAY BAR DISCONNECT SYSTEM

This system, standard on the Wrangler Rubicon, lets you automatically disengage the front sway bar when driving under 18 mph in 4 Low Mode. The front wheels can then drop and compress for maximum articulation.

SKID PLATES

Many of our vehicles come standard with stamped steel skid plates. These high-strength steel plates are engineered to help protect your Jeep® Brand vehicle's guts when battling boulders and jagged rocks.

ROCK RAILS

Available extra-tough body-mounted rails (aka rock sliders or sill guards) help provide additional protection when off-roading.

BODY-ON-FRAME DESIGN

Wrangler and Wrangler four-door models are built with a frame that is fully boxed for strength, flexibility and durability.

DANA 44™ HEAVY-DUTY SOLID AXLES

Durability comes from heavy shafts, stiff housings, large pinion bearings and above-center pinion mountings for smooth and quiet operation. (Front Dana 44™ heavy-duty axle is standard only on the Wrangler Rubicon. Dana 30™ front axle is standard on all other models.)
