10 Family-Friendly US Hikes with Nearby Charging Stations
,Hiking with your family can be incredibly rewarding—but it can also be difficult, especially in an electric vehicle. We all want to give our kids some core memories in some of the most beautiful places on earth, but toddlers with big feelings won’t like waiting for you to find a nearby charging station after a long day on the trail. Thankfully, there are plenty of child-friendly hikes that are equipped with nearby charging stations suitable for an electric SUV like the All-New, All-Electric 2026 Jeep® Recon.
Here are six easy family adventures that are within a 10-minute drive of an EV charging station, plus some that are within 30 minutes of Tesla Superchargers.,

Emerald Pools (Zion National Park, Utah)
,Charging Station:
Zion National Park Lodge
1 Zion Canyon Scenic Dr
Springdale, UT 84767
Located just 1 minute by car from the charging stations at the Zion National Park Lodge, this 2.2-mile (3.5-kilometer) hike along the Lower Emerald Pools Trail leads to inspirational waterfalls that will have your family gasping with delight. The trail itself is paved, though there are minor drop-offs along the way, so caution is advised. Once you’ve taken in your fill of the falls, you can return the way you came or try the more challenging Kayenta Trail back—but due warning, the latter option might be a little challenging for tiny hikers.,

Cheshire Cobbles (Appalachian Trail Corridor, Massachusetts)
,Charging Station:
ChargePoint Charging Station
395 S State Rd
Cheshire, MA 01225
The Appalachian Trail is known for being a tough slog–but there are forest trails throughout where travelers can explore easy-to-hike terrain. The Cobbles, outside of Cheshire, Massachusetts, provide one of the more kid-friendly paths in the Corridor. Scenic and easy, clocking in at about 3 miles (4.8 kilometers), the Cobbles offer creeks, small waterfalls, mountain views and often a chance to see some wildlife like deer and the occasional bear along the way. The nearest charging station in Cheshire is only 6 minutes away by car, but it’s not always open, so it’s worth checking your schedule and making sure you’re there when it’s available for charging.,

Lower Yosemite Falls Trail (Yosemite National Park, California)
,Charging Station:
Yosemite Valley Lodge
9006 Yosemite Lodge Dr.
Yosemite Valley, CA 95389
Not only is the Lower Yosemite Falls Trail an easy 1.2-mile (1.9-kilometer) hike that’s accessible for children, but it also includes a true spectacle among waterfall hikes: Yosemite Falls, the tallest waterfall in North America (and fifth tallest in the world). The real question is seasonal hiking–like all waterfalls in Yosemite, this one’s dry from about July to October. But the trail can also be a little slippery if there’s any snow or ice left over from the winter, so you should pack some good boots for your little guys if you’re there on the early side of spring. Best of all, the Yosemite Valley Lodge and its Level 2 EV chargers are a 6-minute walk from the trailhead, making your transition from charging to hiking an easy one.,

Narrows Riverside Walk (Zion National Park, Utah)
,Charging Station:
Zion National Park Lodge
1 Zion Canyon Scenic Dr
Springdale, UT 84767
Paved, easily accessible, just 9 minutes from the nearest charging station and only about 90 minutes roundtrip—the Narrows Riverside Walk is a perfectly easy trail for your family. Hikers can also witness how the river has shaped the landscape via the dynamic geology along the canyon walls on either side. Conditions permitting—don’t worry, markers are posted in case of flash flood warnings—it also gives you and your little ones a nice riverbank to cool off on.,

Point Lobos Loop (Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, California)
,Charging Station:
ChargePoint
120 Highlands Dr
Carmel, CA 93923
So often we hear “hike” and think “mountains,” but the Point Lobos Loop is an excellent seaside trek full of tidepools, huge ocean views and key tourist points throughout the Reserve. Along the loop you can find Sea Lion Point, named for the sea lions that you can spot sunning themselves in the area. Just don’t be a hero–the full loop is 6.2 miles (about 10 kilometers), so tired little legs may keep you from seeing it all on your first trip. Your nearest EV charging station is also 3 minutes away by car, so you’ll be plugging in before your kids have even had a chance to doze off.,

Red Canyon (Dixie National Forest, Utah)
,Charging Station:
Electric Vehicle Charging Station
132 Center St
Panguitch, UT 84759
For an easier (but no less exciting) hike in Utah, Red Canyon is a perfect choice. Located along Highway 12, this popular attraction has a visitor’s center and tour guides you can hire to show you around. The walls of the canyon itself are full of fossils and geological phenomena, so dinosaur-loving kids will have plenty to see and learn along the way. Well-traversed, but only because it’s a must, and just a quick 9-minute drive to your nearest charging station.,

BONUS: Near Tesla Superchargers
,If you’re looking specifically for Tesla charging stations, we’ve got you. While they may be a little farther away from these hiking trails than all of the above, they’re still totally accessible and within a 30-minute drive.

Dripping Rock Trail (Spanish Fork, Utah)
,Charging Station:
Tesla Supercharger
1505 S 40 E
Provo, UT 84606
More of an adventure walk than a true hike, Dripping Rock Trail is paved, stroller-friendly and won’t overwhelm even the crankiest little adventurer. Along the way, visitors can witness rivers, forests and eventually the namesake rock, whose dripping makes it sound as though rain is falling nearby. Also nearby: a Tesla Supercharger, just 16 minutes away by car. If you’re looking to experience Utah outdoors without pushing things to the limit, this is a must-see hike.,

Fountain Valley Loop (Roxborough State Park, Colorado)
,Charging Station:
Tesla Supercharger
1265 Sergeant Jon Stiles Dr
Highlands Ranch, CO 80129
The Fountain Valley Loop is only 2.5 miles (about 4 kilometers), so it’s easy enough for you and your little ones. And it’s only 26 minutes away from a Tesla Supercharger. That said, along this loop are gorgeous rock formations, historical buildings and even the occasional bit of wildlife. It’s a great way to get in a lot of what makes Colorado hikes so unique and memorable without having to bust your hump or wear your kids out. It’s also stroller- and wheelchair-accessible, depending on the weather. A great hike to get under your belt when you’re in the Denver area.,

Canyon Overlook Trail (Zion National Park, Utah)
,Charging Station:
Tesla Supercharger
1265 Sergeant Jon Stiles Dr
Highlands Ranch, CO 80129
It’s only 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) long, but what the Canyon Overlook Trail lacks in length, it makes up for in stunning scenery. As far as nature walks go, views from this trail are gorgeous, allowing the hiker to see both the gorgeousness of the canyon and the grandeur of Zion National Park around it. This is also an incredibly popular trail, so while you might not find solitude on it, you might meet some fellow travelers and make family friends along the way. Maybe even some at the Tesla Supercharger, just 17 minutes away.,

Seven Bridges Trail (North Cheyenne Cañon Park, Colorado)
,Charging Station:
Tesla Supercharger
215 N Cascade Ave
Colorado Springs, CO 80903
If you’re in the Colorado Springs area, the Seven Bridges Trail has a lot of charm–just don’t beat yourself up if you don’t do the whole thing. The hike clocks in at 5.78 miles (9.3 kilometers), which can be a little much for your average little bean, even if it is just shaded trails alongside a mountain stream. The secret to pushing them forward lies in the name–there are seven bridges along the hike, and “collecting” them all can be a good driving force behind the hike. This one might take up your whole day, though, so don’t double-book the afternoon and make sure to bring something to snack on. Hit the Tesla Supercharger before or after, just a 22-minute drive away.,
