WHAT YOU NEED

For Active Driving Assist and available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist Systems, you’ll need a vehicle that’s equipped with the required available technology and has the available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist Jeep® Connect Package enabled. The package is a paid subscription, with a trial period of 3 years.

There are over 125,000 miles of compatible roads that work with the available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System. When it comes to the available Active Driving Assist System, sensors and cameras will determine which roads are appropriately marked for the technology as you drive.

ACTIVE DRIVING ASSIST

To help keep you centered in your lane, the available Active Driving Assist System constantly monitors your vehicle's position in the lane and makes subtle but constant steering adjustments that can help prevent your vehicle from drifting to either side. Be sure to always keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.

HANDS-FREE ACTIVE DRIVING ASSIST

The available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System, adds more features designed to help make driving more comfortable and convenient. As long as the driver remains attentive and engaged, this system offers subtle solutions to everyday difficulties on the road.

HANDS-FREE ACTIVE DRIVING ASSIST

The available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System offers Hands-Free Lane Centering Assistance and Distance Keep Control on approved roadways. To help maintain driver attention, sensors within the steering wheel and a driver monitoring camera will trigger an alert if attention is diverted from the road.

CURVE SPEED CONTROL

This system comes with the available Hands-Free Active Driving System and helps make driving on a curve safe and secure. It senses the approaching curve and can decrease vehicle speed to an appropriate level. Once out of the curve, the system can resume your original set speed.

ASSISTED LANE CHANGE AND LANE SCANNING

The Assisted Lane Change System that comes with the available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist can help you change lanes while safely and securely monitoring other vehicles in your vicinity. When you activate the turn signal in the desired direction, the system checks for vehicles in the adjacent lane and in your blind spots. If the system senses that the coast is clear, you’ll move into the neighboring lane with a natural driving feel.
The available Lane Scanning System, also packaged with the available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist scans adjacent lanes and adjusts your vehicle’s position accordingly. If you pass a large vehicle or trailer, the system can help move your vehicle so that it is a safe and secure distance away. However, if a large vehicle passes your vehicle, your position is not adjusted.

WHAT YOU’LL SEE

To keep you on top of your Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System, visual indicators will light up based on driver awareness and the situation on the road. White light means the system is enabled an inactive, green means the system is engaged and actively steering, yellow means the system senses the driver is inattentive and red means that driver inattentiveness is still detected.

ACTIVE DRIVING ASSIST FAQ

While working in tandem with Adaptive Cruise Control to help keep you at your set speed, radar sensors and a forward-facing camera help available Active Driving Assist maintain a set distance from other vehicles directly ahead as it keeps your vehicle centered in its lane. When it comes to the Assisted Lane Change feature with the available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System, Blind Spot Monitoring sensors help check for vehicles in adjacent lanes.

All necessary services are bundled into the available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System. In order to use the available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System,  you’ll need to subscribe to the available Jeep® Connect Vehicle Package. There’s a trial period of three years followed by a paid subscription, and you can sign up for the service with your dealer, a customer service agent, in your vehicle or online. All necessary services are bundled into the available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist Package.

The available Active Driving Assist System sensors and cameras will determine which roads are available for the technology as you drive. 

 

 

 

The available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System is only available on preapproved roadways.

The available Active Driving Assist System requires the driver to have their hands on the wheel at all times, and can be used on any roads appropriately marked for the technology.

The available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System does not require the driver to have their hands on the wheel at all times, but is restricted to highway driving.

It should be noted that these systems are mutually exclusive—meaning that if a customer options up to the available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist, they will not have any form of Active Driving Assist while not on the highway. This makes the available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist ideal for drivers who do a lot of highway driving.

If Adaptive Cruise Control is already active and controlling the speed of the vehicle, simply press the Active Driving Assist On/Off button on the right side of the steering wheel to activate the available Active Driving Assist system. If Adaptive Cruise Control is not already active, press the Active Driving Assist On/Off button on the right side of the steering wheel to turn on the system, and then press either of the corresponding Set + or Set - buttons to activate the system.

Other than manually turning off the available system using the on/off button, the system will automatically deactivate in any of the following situations:

 

  • If the system has detected driver inattentiveness and has gone through all escalation warnings:

    • The available Active Driving Assist System detects that hands are no longer on the steering wheel.

    • The available Active Driving Assist: Hands no longer detected on the steering wheel.

  • If lane markings are no longer detected or poor road conditions are experienced.

  • If the brake pedal is pressed or the Adaptive Cruise Control System is deactivated.

  • If a turn signal is used when equipped with available Active Driving Assist (unless a target is in the blind spot zone on the same side the turn signal is being applied).

  • If the driver performs an evasive maneuver, applying high torque to the steering wheel for a short duration.

  • If the driver’s seat belt is unbuckled.

  • If the vehicle speed exceeds 90 mph (145 km/h).

  • If the driver steers out of the lane and crosses a lane marking.

  • If the Forward Collision Warning System becomes active and provides warnings and/or braking.

 

NOTE:

  • Available Active Driving Assist will not enable if the system detects that a trailer is connected to the vehicle.

  • Pushing the Active Driving Assist on/off button will turn the system off. All other deactivation conditions will place the system back into the “enabled” state with the steering wheel indicator displayed in white until all engagement conditions are met again.

  • When the system is deactivated, the system status indicator lights will turn off, Active Lane Management will return to its previous state and Adaptive Cruise Control will disable.

 

Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System Deactivation (If Equipped)

In addition to the deactivation conditions listed above, the available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System will also deactivate in the following situations:

  • Driver does not return attention to the road after warnings.
  • The vehicle is not receiving a clear cellular signal for an extended period of time.

  • The Jeep® Connect subscription for the available Active Driving Assist is expired.
  • The driver monitoring system is obscured or cannot detect driver due to steering wheel or seat position.

Both systems have sensors inside the cabin that ensure the driver is paying attention to the road ahead.
 

For available Active Driving Assist, attention is determined using touch sensors in the steering wheel. If the driver does not keep hands on the steering wheel, the system will deactivate.
 

The Hands-Free Active Driving Assist system uses a driver-monitoring camera that insures that the the driver is:

  • Present in their seat

  • Not experiencing drowsiness

  • Keeping their eyes on the road

  • Not excessively reclining or adjusting their seat

If the camera notices any of these things are missing or happening, the system will escalate warnings for driver attention.

If driver attention is not returned, the system will perform a Stop-In-Lane maneuver which safely and securely brings your vehicle to a stop. Once the vehicle is at a standstill, the vehicle will attempt to place an emergency call through the available Assist and SOS system. If a Stop-In-Lane maneuver is completed, the system will be unavailable until the ignition is cycled OFF then back to ON.

Yes, the available Active Driving Assist System status can always be viewed in the instrument cluster display and status changes are shown by changes in color of the system’s indicator lights.

 

 

 

As the system detects driver inattentiveness, the system status indicator lights will change from green to yellow to red. The following indicators will change in color as warnings to the driver escalate:

 

Active Driving Assist Indicator (steering wheel icon in the instrument cluster display or Head-Up Display [if equipped]).

Active Driving Assist Indicators Are Off

 

Active Driving Assist is not turned on or enabled by the driver.

Active Driving Assist Indicators Are White

 

Active Driving Assist is turned on/enabled by the driver, but the system is not actively steering the vehicle.

Active Driving Assist Indicators Are Green

 

System is actively steering the vehicle and the system detects that the driver is attentive.

Active Driving Assist Indicators Are Yellow

 

Driver inattentiveness has been detected, warning the driver to place hands on the steering wheel, or look back toward the road (if equipped with the available Hands-Free System).

It should be noted that the vehicle is still actively steering the vehicle while indicators are yellow.

Active Driving Assist Indicators Are Red

 

Driver inattentiveness is still being detected or the system is disengaging, warning the driver to place hands on the steering wheel or, if equipped with the Hands-Free System, taking control of the vehicle.

 

 

NOTE:

 

For both available Active Driving Assist and available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist, the driver MUST place hands on the steering wheel and take control of the vehicle when the system is deactivated. In some cases, the available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System also requires the driver to press the accelerator or brake pedal to fully disengage all lane centering and adaptive cruise control functionality. In this case, the display will show Take Control of the Vehicle.

 

 

 

Along with changes in the system’s indicator lights (green, yellow and red), the system can also issue a seat vibration to accompany these warnings. This causes the driver’s seat to vibrate as indicator lights transition from green to yellow, then yellow to red, in order to alert the driver of their attentiveness status being changed. This feature can be turned on or off within the available Jeep® Connect System.

As long as you follow these guidelines, available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist can be a safe, secure and convenient experience.

  • Always remain alert and be ready to take control of the vehicle in the event that the Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System disables.

  • Always pay attention to the road when the available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System is engaged.

  • Maintain a set distance from other vehicles and pay attention to traffic conditions.

  • Do not use a handheld device when the available Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System is engaged.

  • Do not place any objects on the steering wheel (steering wheel covers, ornaments, etc.) that could interfere with the detection sensors.

Adaptive Cruise Control adds to the convenience of Speed Control while traveling on highways and major roadways. 

Adaptive Cruise Control will allow you to keep Speed Control engaged in light to moderate traffic conditions without the constant need to reset your Speed Control. It utilizes a radar sensor and a forward-facing camera to detect a vehicle directly ahead of you while maintaining a set distance.
