What Is Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)?

In short, Adaptive Cruise Control is cruise control that doesn’t just hold a speed—it also helps you keep a safe following distance. You simply set your target speed and a time gap between you and the vehicle in front of you, and the system helps you maintain both. Unlike basic cruise control, ACC automatically slows your vehicle down when a vehicle ahead is closer than your chosen gap, then accelerates back to the set speed when the lane clears.

Using forward-facing radar and/or cameras, ACC continuously measures the distance and relative speed of vehicles ahead. The system then:
• Modulates throttle to accelerate smoothly
• Applies the brakes to maintain your chosen headway
• Resumes speed when the lane opens
